The club aims to maintain contact with interested past players through this website and through a regular mail-out of a club newsletter. If you or someone you know would like to be included in the regular mail-outs please contact the club at firstname.lastname@example.org or at PO Box 741 Elsternwick 3185 so that your contact details can be added to the mailing list.
Past players are encouraged to contribute to the strength of the Club by attending functions and joining the Club’s coterie group, “The Wickas”. The Wickas is a group of supporters of the Club, made up of past and present players and some of their friends. The highlight for the Wickas each season is the Wickas’ Dinner. The dinner is held in September or October of each year at a local Melbourne establishment, where Wickas members eat, drink and reminisce about old times. Wickas’ Dinners have been held annually since 1996 at venues such as: -
Parkview Hotel, Melbourne (2012 & 2013)
Royal Brighton Yacht Club, Middle Brighton (2011)
Il Caminetto Restaurant, Brighton (2010)
Royal Brighton Yacht Club, Middle Brighton (2009)
The London Tavern, Caulfield South (2007 & 2008)
Parkview Hotel, Melbourne (2005 & 2006)
Geppetto Trattoria, East Melbourne (2003 & 2004)
Samuel's On The Park, Carlton (2002)
VAFA Boardroom, Elsternwick Park (2001)
Georgio's Restaurant, Elsternwick (2000)
Wickas membership costs $130. Members are entitled to the Dinner (the main item), mail-outs on the performances of the club, a copy of the Club Annual Report and a discount on attendance at Presentation Night. Wickas are recognised by the Club as Social Members and as such are entitled to vote at general meetings and hold office. As well as encouraging a supporter base for the club and providing an opportunity for fellowship within the group, one of the aims is to support the club financially. Each year the Wickas provide between $1,500.00 and $2,000.00 towards the Club's finances. A number of members who are unable to attend the dinner generously donate their membership fees to the club.
Gold Class Wickas membership costs $150 and entitles members to attend two of Wayne Howard’s famous gourmet Wickas Barbeques held during the season.
