Senior Presentation Night 2018

The 117th Elsternwick Cricket Club Senior Presentation Night was held at the Caulfield Glass House on Saturday 14 April 2018.  The evening was compered by Bryan Hammer and attended by over 50 players and supporters.


Secretary Bryan Hammer deputized for the indisposed President John Dunnachie and presented the major awards on the night.  The top playing award for the club, the Colin Fraser Club Champion Award for the best 1st XI player was won by Lachlan Baker, a just reward given Lachlan also won the best trainer award.  Lachlan scored 531 points, to win from Darcy O’Connor on 489 and Cameron Christiansen with 308.


The Wickas Award for most valuable player was won by Darcy O’Connor, who had a great year in the 1st XI taking 30 wickets at 13.1.


The U21 Player of the year was won by William Smith in a year where he made his 1st XI debut and managed 11 games at the level.


The Barry N Todd Award for service to the club was won by David Long, who did an outstanding job as Chairman of Selectors in an extremely trying year.  David also played and at times captained the 4th XI, despite officially retiring at the end of last season.  Off field, David was instrumental in negotiations with Council regarding the redevelopment of Oval No.1 and the retention of Oval No.2 for organized sport.


Earlier Sam Groves presented medallions to players who either made a century or took 5 wickets in an innings during the season.  Andrew Chisholm had the most outstanding batting performance of the year with his score of 123 against Caulfield in the 4th XI.  William Smith won the outstanding bowling award with his 6/38 against Mount Waverley in the 2nd XI.


David Long presented the awards to the batting and bowling average winners in the senior club.  A full list of award winners is: -
